HOW WE WORK
When the coalition identifies gaps in services, we form programs in which at least three cross-sector partners reallocate resources and develop new avenues to address those gaps.
Summer Transition Program
We support high school seniors from spring of their senior year to the minute they begin college the following fall. While 95% of HPS graduates are accepted into college, only 60% enroll in the following year. To help first-generation students make the transition, college students provide near-peer outreach and guidance all summer long.
College Persistence Program
When HPS graduates are first-year students at Capital Community College and Manchester Community College, we offer upperclassmen mentors to help them navigate college with greater comfort and confidence, to guide them, answer questions and help them problem-solve. Mentors are urban high school grads who have overcome their own challenges to stay in college.
